
Injection of glucose (usually dextrose) in animals is used to treat severe hypoglycemia, ketosis (acetonemia in cows/sheep) and dehydration by providing immediate energy. It is usually administered intravenously (IV) for rapid action or subcutaneously, primarily in cattle, sheep, horses and domestic animals. Common concentrations: 5%, 10% or 40%.
