Composition
Ixtiol (Ixtiammol) 100 mg/g, Vazelin
Description
Ichthyol ointment is a local anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and local anaesthetic preparation. It has bactericidal activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes, relieves inflammation and reduces pain in deep tissue layers. Has a dark brown (nearly black) colour and a characteristic pungent odour.

Indications
External: wounds, eczema, burns, dermatitis, furunculosis, pyoderma, subcutaneous tissue and muscle lesions, arthritis, neuralgia, tendinitis, tendovaginitis, bursitis, mastitis, microsporosis, mange. Internal: acute ruminal tympany, flatulence, functional intestinal disorder, gastroenteritis, acute colic. Obstetrics: vaginitis.
Usage
External: apply a thin layer to affected area 1–2 times daily. A dressing may be applied after application. Internal: as antiseptic and antifermentative agent as directed by a veterinarian.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to components. Do not apply to open wounds or mucous membranes.
